GPAN team member
I am studying a Dual Diploma in Community Services & Community Sector Management at Kangan Institute, Broadmeadows. I am currently a Youth Worker - predominantly working with disengaged youth and people with disabilities engaging them into the community.
What do you love about GPAN?
I love GPAN because it is tackling an issue that's been hidden for the last few years. I love that I am able to educate and spread knowledge to others in regards to gender inequality/roles, domestic/family violence- particularly those who are from CALD backgrounds and youth. As well as this, networking with organisations.
A bit about you
I am a big social justice advocator, I've involved myself with the community in projects such as MINUS18, opening Gay Straight Alliances in Western Suburbs of Melbourne. I also love spending time with my partner Adam and exploring the world.
Where do you want to be in five years?
Theres a lot I want to do in the next five years.
I want to establish a safe place & support network for LGBTI youth within the Hume Region and ensure its sustainable. Ensure there are LGBTI specific workers that are able to educate and help those LGBTI youth whom are suffering from bullying, suicidal thoughts & build an alliance with schools to better tackle the issue with the uncertainty of Safe Schools Coalition.
Have CALD specific group and support for "Hmong" people in Hume that are able to give them opportunities to prosper, learn English, gain job opportunities and involve themselves more and be noticed within the region.
To get further education and training to ensure I am educated and ideally work for the Department of Education streamlining Student Welfare Services or Department of Human Services as Child Protection Officer.
I also want to buy a house with my partner, Adam and hopefully get married if Australia passes same sex marriage.
