Im the Community Development Projects Coordinator at Banksia Gardens and have the good fortune to facilitate GPAN as part of my role.
What do you love most about GPAN?
So much. Firstly, the young people we're working with. Im continually impressed by the passion and initiative of the the team and get a real kick out watching their skills and confidence develop. Also observing friendships grow and seeing the team connect with one another.
I also really love that we're committing time to making a positive difference on an issue that impacts every one of us as humans. There's a lot of focus right now on reducing family violence and calling out gender inequality. Its been a long time coming and we have a way to go, but change is really starting to happen.
A bit about you
In my former life I worked in contemporary dance and theatre and the D floor is still one of my favourite places to be. I believe there's a lot of power in the Arts to bring about lasting social change. Also, I have a cat and 3 chickens. Ive just started a woodworking course and want to build my own sustainable house in the future.
Where do you want to be in 5 years?
Keeping happy and inspired. Doing things that feel like they matter. Living in that sustainable house somewhere in the green countryside. The chickens and the cat will be there, and maybe some goats. Kind of a mecca for strays, both the 2 legged and 4 legged variety. Surrounded by friends and family.
