Channa De Silva
I’m a Youth Engagement Officer at Banksia Gardens and a Co-Facilitator of GPAN. I’m currently studying Arts at Latrobe University.
What do you love about GPAN?
I’ve been with GPAN for nearly three years, so it’s become something of an extended family for me. I grew up playing a lot of sports, as a result I’m very team orientated and love the fact that I have a network of people who are all working towards achieving the same goal. On top of that I love the effect that GPAN has on people, anytime GPAN is out in the community or visiting a school, I get a real kick out of seeing the way people respond to what we are presenting to them.
A bit about you
I grew up playing a lot of sport, and now I do a bit of coaching. I work casually at a bar, and spend my free time with my friends. I’m forever trying to find the balance between work and play, and sometimes I struggle to switch off from work when I’m not here.
Where do you want to be in 5 years?
In 5 years I hope to have finished my degree at Uni, and be moving into more leadership roles in my professional life. More than anything I hope to still be at Banksia working with awesome people and watching the kids of today become adults and leaders.
