GPAN team member
Selam! I’m Ayana, I am currently a student at Hume Central Secondary and in my final year of secondary schooling.
What do you love about GPAN?
I really love the fact that GPAN is able to bring people from diverse backgrounds and different circumstances, that are willing and pursuing to work on a common goal and vision. GPAN allows you to put yourself in situations where you will meet people of other cultures and different world views. I love that GPAN is able to give young people, like me, an opportunity to speak up about issues such as violence and gender equality that are ignored or unrecognised in other communities. And obviously I do love the free food!
A bit about you
I really enjoy swimming and photography. I am the oldest of four siblings. I really enjoy meeting new people from different cultures and learning to understand their different perspectives and situations in life. I am a comedy lover, I've pretty much watched every rom-com movie on Netflix. I am also obsessed with watching shows like 'Fear of the Walking Dead' and 'This is Us'. Lastly, I am really motivated and passionate about social issues, such as gender equality, domestic violence, and refugee/asylum seeker issues that are affecting our society.
Where do you want to be in five years?
I don’t know where I’ll be in five years, because I don’t know what the future holds for me. What I do know is that I am really excited to see what’s in store for me through this journey, in the meantime, I am going to work on developing myself as person and helping out my family!
